WEST SIDE STORY
West Side Story is one of the most memorable musicals and greatest love stories of all time.
Arthur Laurents' book remains as powerful, poignant and timely as ever, with the score by Leonard
Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim still widely regarded as one of the best ever written.
This, the world's greatest love story takes to the streets in this landmark Broadway musical
that is one of the theatre's finest accomplishments.
Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet is transported to modern-day New York City, as two young idealistic lovers
find themselves caught between warring street gangs, the "American" Jets and the Puerto Rican Sharks.
Their struggle to survive in a world of hate, violence and prejudice is one of the most innovative, heart-wrenching
and relevant musical dramas of our time.

Doc's Drug Store
Our West Side Story set was built and painted in our own workshops, and was designed to be versatile in size to fit most stages. The set is in two halves, stage left and stage right, and each half measures 3.8m wide, 4m deep, and 3.9m high.
The two halves of the set are linked by two wire fencing panels, each measuring 3.5m wide by 2m high, with a central basketball hoop. The panels run behind the set, so the two halves of the set can be positioned up to 7m apart.
The fire escapes protrude a further 600mm out from the set; they are constructed from 50mm steel scaffold tube, and are strong enough to support actors.
The fire escapes have built-in upstage ladders, and the stage right platform is accessible from behind the set via a landing, through an opening window.
Two large doors concealed in the set open upstage to reveal Doc’s Drug Store (stage left) and the bridal shop and/or Maria’s bedroom (stage right). Both ground floor doors open, and each door has a practical light outside.
This skyline back cloth measures
24' wide with a 13'6" drop and is perfect
to fly between the two sides of the street
to give extra depth to your stage.
Must be pre ordered.
