Guys and Dolls
Considered by many to be the perfect musical comedy, Guys And Dolls ran for 1,200 performances when it opened on Broadway in 1950. It received nearly unanimous positive reviews from critics and won a bevy of awards, including Tony Awards, Drama Desks, and Oliviers. Frequently revived, the show has been done with numerous all-star casts including productions/concerts featuring Ewan McGregor, Jane Krakowski, Brian Stokes Mitchell and Jessica Biel.
Set in Damon Runyon's mythical New York City, Guys And Dolls is an oddball romantic comedy. Gambler Nathan Detroit tries to find the cash to set up the biggest craps game in town while the authorities breathe down his neck; meanwhile, his girlfriend, nightclub performer Adelaide, laments that they've been engaged for 14 years. Nathan turns to fellow gambler Sky Masterson for the dough, but Sky ends up chasing the straight-laced missionary Sarah Brown. Guys And Dolls takes us from the heart of Times Square to the cafes of Havana, Cuba, and even into the sewers of New York City,
but eventually everyone ends up right where they belong.
Frank Loesser's brassy, immortal score makes Guys And Dolls a crowd pleaser. The large cast features both a variety of ensemble and star roles. With a great collection of production resources from MTI, this highly producible show
is a treat for audiences and performers of any age.

The Guys and Dolls set is one of our more versatile sets as regards to it's size. It is 3.7m high at it's highest points, The upstage flat with the Hot Box doors built in is 6.93m wide and 615mm deep where the Hot Box doors are hinged.
The two side flats heading downstage left and right are 3.3m long and 600mm wide at the far downstage point. They can be attached to the main upstage flat at any point along it's width and at any angle so the set will fill a ten meter or a 10 foot performance space.
The Hot Box
The Hot Box doors can be opened from on stage or your cast can open them as they
enter the stage, the red curtains are attached to the doors so the cast can open them an be straight in Hot Box scene, the rear curtains are an upstage entrance. The door section of this part of the set is 2.3m wide and 6.15m deep
The Mission
The Mission can be opened from the outside or through the inner practical door, it is bi-fold and when fully open is over 3.5m wide.
A trucked 1.2m flat is also included to further extend the performance area and has a practical blackboard on it.
Access to the stage can only be achieved when the Mission is open.
The Storm Drain
The Storm Drain section of the set is stage left and works in the same way as the stage right Mission, it also has a trucked flat to extend the performance space.
Access to the stage can only be achieved when the Drain is full open. The light inside the drain is practical so you can shoot dice all night if you wish.
Havana
The Havana scene is achieved by a centerpiece which is a self contained working, trucked water feature with a pneumatic ram inside which rises up from the water feature.
Four strings of Cuban bunting are pulled from concealed pockets within the set and hooked on to the lamp on the top of the feature, a simple leaver is turned to the up position and the lamp and bunting rise into the air to give a tented effect, Cuban flags can also be placed in the prefixed holders.
This prop is pre-charged before your performance and has no trailing wires or pipes.
The brick effect seat is on the rear of the water feature. The seat is trucked.
Two phone booths are supplied
A trucked Newsstand is supplied with a cocktail bar on the reverse.
All the above set elements and props above are supplied as part of the Guys and Dolls hire package, this includes the neon effect lights.
The neon lights require 3.2amps of power and can be dimmed but you made need to install a load lamp depending on which type of desk you are using.
